Powering the vehicle is a robust 3.8-liter V-6 engine generating 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. While front-wheel drive comes standard, all-wheel drive is available as an option, offering variable torque split ranging from 100 percent to the front wheels to a 65/35 split in sport mode. Additionally, an optional self-leveling rear air suspension enhances ride quality. Optional driver assistance features include sensors capable of detecting children or pets left behind in the rear seats, as well as a lockout feature for the rear doors to prevent access by fast-moving objects. Until we have the opportunity to test drive Kia’s plus-size SUV, we refrain from speculating on its ride and handling.
